The Cherohala Skyway

Only THE MOST beautiful spot in the county – The Cherohala Skyway is over 40 miles of scenic byway that connects the Cherokee National Forest in Tennessee to The Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. Don’t forget to stop in at the visitor center. There you’ll find maps, gifts and the museum of Charles Hall. Hall was a driving force of the skyway, he also brought the pay phone to town!

Bald River Falls

Rushing waterfalls and incredible greenery lie just behind the bend of The Cherohala Skyway. Drive up to Bald River Falls for a 90 foot tall waterfall!

Sequoyah Birthplace Museum

Meet Sequoyah, creator of the Cherokee writing system! He grew up in Vonore, TN in the village of Tuskeegee. He fought the war under General Andrew Jackson, and he created a writing system for other Cherokee soldiers to write letters back home. Find out more about this innovator at his museum!

Fort Loudon State Park

Fort Loudoun State Park was built to protect the British Colony during the French and Indian War. It became a Tennessee State Park in 1977 and has incredible natural beauty, history and waterways! Stop by the park for hiking, boating and exploring!

Tsali Notch Vineyard

A vineyard in our own backyard! Taste, pick and enjoy the breathtaking views of Tsali Notch Vineyard! The vineyard specializes in Muscadine, “America’s wild grape!” Harvest season runs from September through October, families are welcome to pick grapes for their own wine and jellies! Tsali grows six varieties of muscadines.
