Ah, hot dogs. The unofficial “official” food of summer. But did you know that July is National Hot Dog Month? Well now you do! And here are some of our favorite East Tennessee eateries specializing in the noble frankfurter! Did we miss one? Let us know!

Knox Public House

To say The Public House is one of our favorite hot dog stops would be an understatement. Not only do they feature a sampling of unique flavor combinations, you can pair them with wine, craft beer, and a serving of some of their gourmet popcorn!

FAVE FLAV:

Collard Kimchi with cilantro and Sriracha Honey sauce.

PRO TIP: Add Pimento Cheese with Benton’s Bacon. Trust us. Just… trust us.

Curious Dogs

Offering the widest selection of hot dogs we’ve ever seen, Curious Dogs raises the bar on flavor combinations! But it doesn’t stop there. They’ve got epic sandwiches and excellent brews to help it all wash down.

The Curious Dog with house sauce, BBQ sauce, potato salad, and bacon.

PRO TIP:

If you’re looking for a SERIOUS eats challenge, try the Biggie Smalls… It’s a full pound of hot dog with pastrami, honey mustard, sriracha, jalapenos, and coleslaw piled high on a french roll. Go big or go home with the full 24″ serving!

D & B Hot Dogs and Ice Cream

What two things better signify Summer?! No seriously… D & B keeps it classic all year round. Check out one of their seriously delicious flavors, or build your own! And don’t forget to get that hand-spun milkshake on the side!

If you like some sports bar with your hot dog, than THIS is the place for you! With more on than just franks, they’ll bowl you over with their dog-inspired atmosphere, beer selection, and sports on every TV!

Campfire Hotdogs on Pedestrian Mall

This University of Tennessee staple is one of the most popular spots on campus! With homemade toppings, natural ingredients, and incredible prices, it’s obvious why Campfire leaves a lasting impression!

The Chicago Dog with mustard, relish, onions, sport peppers, dill pickle spears and celery salt

PRO TIP:

Head to UT Campus Monday they Friday to experience these delicious dogs. And try their homemade Cole slaw! It’s a southern classic done right!

Knox Wurst Food Truck

One of Knoxville’s newest food trucks ALSO features two of our favorite items: Hot Dogs (and sausages) and Nachos! Looks like we have a real contender for best on-the-go eating!
