Will It Grill? :: Chocolate Chip Cookies

When it's too hot to bake indoors, just turn your grill into an oven! We mixed up a batch of delicious (not so nutritious) cookies and tried our hand at baking outdoors! But will they grill?

Grilled Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1/3 cup bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips

Preheat grill to medium heat, about 350 degrees. Place a baking tray upside down on the grill grates. This will serve to reduce direct heat to cookies and prevent bottoms from burning.

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

Beat together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar with an electric mixer until smooth. Add one egg; beat until blended into the butter mixture. Add the remaining egg, vanilla extract, and maple extract; beat until well blended and slightly fluffy. Stir in the flour mixture a little at a time, mixing just until combined. Stir in the bacon and chocolate chips. Form into golf ball sized rounds and place on a cookie sheet.

Place sheet on top of tray and close lid. Cook for 12-15 minutes, depending on desired doneness. Check at 12 minutes.

Once done, remove from heat and allow to cool.

Pro Tip: Pre-roll your cookies and keep them refrigerated or in the freezer until ready to cook. This will help them keep that perfectly round (and not run together) cookie shape!
